Normal spinal posture
This shows a person with a tilted pelvis and a straight spine.
Commonly with a tilted pelvis, the spine is curved to allow the person to stand up right. This person will suffer from symptoms such as lower back pain, lower limb joint pain, numbness, a sore neck, pain in the arms or hands and headaches can develop.
How Level are you?
An easy way to see if your pelvis is out of alignment is to stand in front of a mirror so you can see your bare shoulders. It’s best to be at least a couple of metres back from the mirror. Ensure you are standing up straight. Now imagine a ruler connecting the left shoulder to the right. The imaginary ruler should be perfectly level.
